never與ever的用法對比
一、never的用法
1. never主要與肯定動詞連用而不與否定動詞連用。一般情況下它意為“從未有過”:
Some people are never satisfied. 有些人從不滿足?! ?/p>
I was never very good at maths. 我在數(shù)學(xué)方面從來就不很好?! ?/p>
A clever politician never promises too much. 聰明的政治家從不過多地許諾。
Have you met Marilyn. I've never met her. 你見到過瑪里琳嗎? 我從未見到過她。
2. never+肯定動詞有時可以替代一個普通的否定動詞:
I waited but he never turned up. 我等著,可他根本沒有來。
3. never+疑問動詞可表示說話人對于未能做到某事而感到驚訝:
Has he never been to Japan? I'm surprised, because his wife is Japanese. 他從沒去過日本嗎?我感到很驚訝,因為他妻子是日本人?! ?/p>
二、ever的用法
1. ever意為“在任何時間”,主要用于疑問句中:
Have you ever been a teacher? 你當(dāng)過教師嗎?
Have you ever seen a gorilla? 你看到過大猩猩嗎?
Have you ever seen any film like that? 你看過這樣的電影嗎?
Have you ever heard a pop song sung in Japanese? 你聽見過有人用日語唱流行歌嗎?
2. ever可與否定動詞連用,特別是在與復(fù)合時態(tài)連用時,可代替never+肯定動詞:
I don't ever want [never want] to see you again. 我永遠不想再見到你了?! ?/p>
He doesn't ever complain.=He never complains. 他從來不抱怨。
I promise you, he won't ever [will never] trouble you again! 我向你保證,他絕不會再打擾你了!
3. ever+肯定動詞可以用于比較中,也可以和表示假定和懷疑的詞連用:
I don't suppose he ever writes to his mother. 我想他沒有給他母親寫過信。
