dis-是個很常見的前綴，它原是副詞性的拉丁前綴，意思為apart。當它作為原生前綴與拉丁詞根結合時，根據(jù)詞根首字母的情況，分別使用dis-,dif-,di-三種形式。其中，dis-主要出現(xiàn)在c,p,r,s,t等字母前面；而di-則出現(xiàn)在l,m,r,v等字母前面，其中又出現(xiàn)在它的v前面最為常見自15世紀以來，dis-成為英國中的一個活性詞綴，能與英語中的外來借詞或本族語單詞相綴合，表示否定的意思。它的綴合對象可以是動詞、名詞或形容詞。當與動詞綴合時， dis的意思相當于to undo 或not;當與名詞相綴合時，其意思相當 于lack of ( 這時不改變名詞詞性)或to remove (這時，把名詞變 成功詞) ;當它與形容詞結合時，意思相當于not ，在個別情況下 ，作to make not 解(這時生成的是動詞)。由于dis-用法較為復雜，我們將分兩部分介紹。先介紹dis-及其異體作為原生詞綴與詞根結合的情況，再介紹dis-作為派生詞綴表示否定意義的各種用法。

用法一. dis-如何與不同首字母的詞根相結合。

1.discern [dis- = apart 開; cern = to separate 分=> " to separate one apart from the others 將一物與它物分開"→]

舉例：Through the fog I could just discern a car towards me. 在農霧中，我們只能辨別出是一輛小汽車朝我開來。

2.dispense [dis- = apart 分開;如ns = to pay 付出; -e=> " to pay apart分別付出"→]
vt. give out; distribute 分収;分配
舉例： The Red Cross dispensed food and clothing to the victims. 紅十字會向難民分發(fā)衣物、食品。

3.disrupt [dis- = apart 開; rupt == to break 破"to break apart 破 裂" ]
vt. 分裂;瓦解
舉例： The enemy tried to disrupt our coutry but failed in the edn. 敵人相分裂我們的國家但最后失敗了。

4.dissuade [dis=apart 離; suade == to urge 力勸 →"to urge sb.apart 力勸某人離開"]
vt. persuade notωdo sth. 勸止，勸 阻
舉例：The father finally dissuaded his son from leaving school. 父親終止兒子的中途輟學的想法。

5.distract [dis- =apart 開; tract == to draw 牽引→]
vt. draw apart (the mind or attention) 引開(心思) ，分散(注意力) ， 使分心
舉例： Noise distracts my attention from studying. 吵鬧聲使我無法專心學習。

用法二. dif- 和di-能與何種首字母的詞根相綴合。

1. differ [dif- (dis-) == apart 開; fer == to carry 拿→"to carry apart from each other 拿開;互相分離"→]
v. be unlike; disagree 不同 ，相異
舉例：My answer to the arithmatic problem differs from hers. 我得出的這道算術題的答案和她的不一樣。

2.diffuse [dif- (dis-) = apart 開; fus = to pour 傾倒; -e →"to pour apart in every direction 向四面八方灑開"→ ]
vt. scatter widely 使散開，使擴散
舉例：The sun diffuses light and heat. 太陽散發(fā)出光和熱。

3.dilate [di- (dis-) = apart 開; lat - to widen 加寬; "to widen apart 加寬開來"→]
vt . expand; enlarge 膨脹;擴大
舉例：When you take a deep breath,you dilate your nostrils. 當你深呼吸時，鼻孔就擴張了。

4.divert [di- (dis-) = apart 開; vert = to turn 轉→"to turn apart 轉 開"→]
vt. turn aside 轉向，轉移
舉例：The king dimidiated the land between his two sons. 國王把國土平分給兩個兒子。

5.divide [di- (dis-) = apart 開; vid == to separate 分; -e=>"to separate apart 分割開"→]
vt. separate into parts 分，劃分
舉例： A brook divides the field. 一條河把田野分成兩部分。

用法三. dis- 跟派生詞相結合。

1. disagree [dis- = to undo 取消]
v. fil to agreee;differ 不同意；不一致
舉例：Your account of the incident disagrees with his. 你對該事件的說法跟他的說法不符合。

用法四.派生前綴dis-與名詞結合的生成名詞或動詞的幾個例詞。

1.disadvantage [dis- = lack of 無；advantage n.有利條件→]
n.不利；不利條件
舉例：Her shyness is a disadvantage in company. 她膽小害羞不利于她交友。

2.dishonour [dis- = lack of 無；honour n.名譽→]
n.不名譽；恥辱
舉例：The robber brought dishonour to his family. 那個盜賊使自己的家門蒙羞。

3.disorder [dis- = lack of 無；order n.秩序→]
n.混亂；雜亂
舉例：The room was in disorder after the birthday party. 生日聚會之后，房里一片雜亂。

4.disarm [dis- = to remove 去掉；arm n.武器→]
vt. 繳...的械
舉例：The policemen captured the robbers and disarmed them. 警察抓住強盜并繳了他們的械。

用法五.以派生詞dis-開頭的形容詞。

1.dishonest [dis- = not 不；honest adj.誠實的→]
adj.不誠實的；不正直的
舉例：Lying,cheating and stealing are dishonest. 撒謊、欺詐與偷盜都是不誠實的行為。

2.disloyal [dis- = not 不；loyal adj.忠誠的→]
adj.not loyal ;unfaithful 不忠誠的
舉例：A disloyal servant let robbers into the house. 一個不忠的個人把強盜引進門。

3.dissimilar [dis- = no 不；similar adj.相似的→]
adj.不一樣的；不同的
舉例：The brothers had markedly dissimilar characteristics. 這些兄弟性格各不相同。
